WILLIAMSBURG — In-person early voting for the November General Election begins today, Friday, Sept. 23.
The races for the 1st Congressional District and two seats on the Williamsburg City Council are on the ballot, the city noted in a press release, and due to state legislation passed in 2020, voters can vote earlier than Election Day.
City voters can cast their ballots in person at the Municipal Building, 401 Lafayette St., either curbside or inside the Registrar’s Office between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday until Friday, Nov. 5, the city said. The office will also be open two Saturdays during election season: Oct. 29 and Nov. 5, from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. both days.
Election Day is Tuesday, Nov. 8.
Those who vote curbside should park in the designated spaces and call 757-220-6157, the city said. Someone from the Registrar’s Office will come outside to check IDs and issue ballots.
Absentee ballots, which will be mailed to those who requested to vote by mail, can be returned to a dropbox outside the front doors of the Municipal Building or sent through the mail. Postage is prepaid, the city noted. Ballots sent through the mail must be postmarked by Election Day, Nov. 8, and received no later than noon Monday, Nov. 14.
