Lauran Strait to Speak at Chesapeake Bay Writers September Luncheon in Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG — Lauran Strait will be the guest speaker at the Chesapeake Bay Writers luncheon on Wednesday, Sept. 14.

Strait is a former writing instructor and workshop facilitator at the Adult Learning Center in Virginia Beach and is the co-founder and acting executive director of Hampton Roads Writers as well as the president of the Board of Directors and the annual conference director. Strait will be discussing the topic “Creating characters within a vivid and continuous fictional dream.”

Strait has several published works both in print and online, including “The Copperfield Review” and “Moondance Magazine”. She has also had fiction and nonfiction works published in anthologies including Random House’s “Knitlit the Third—We Spin More Yarns”, Better Non Sequitur Press’s “See You Next Tuesday” and Smith Magazine’s “Six-Word Memoirs on Love & Heartbreak”.

Members and non-members are invited to listen and discuss during the luncheon. Registration is required in advance in order to attend. Social time will begin at 11:30 or a little earlier, the meal will be served at 11:45 with the meeting and program to follow. 

The luncheon will take place at Rocco’s Smokehouse Grill in Williamsburg. Depending on the meal choice, the cost is $15 or $20 for members, $18 or $23 for nonmembers and includes iced tea and water, taxes, and gratuity. Other beverages are available for purchase.
