Now, this 20-year-old Richmond man is in jail accused of having sex with a 12-year-old James City County girl.
Timothy Gray Huth-Scruggs was booked Friday in the Virginia Peninsula Regional Jail charged with rape, object sexual penetration, aggravated sexual battery, and two counts of use of electronic means to solicit a child in a sex crime, according to the jail’s online booking sheet.
There was no bond information listed Tuesday in the jail’s electronic booking log.
James City County Police received a complaint July 14 from a woman who told officers she believed her daughter had an “inappropriate sexual relationship” with Huth-Scruggs, authorities said.
Police said an investigation indicated Huth-Scruggs and the girl had been corresponding via SnapChat.
The girl told Huth-Scruggs she’s 13; he told her he was 16, police said.
Authorities said Huth-Scruggs drove from Richmond to James City County “in the early morning hours” sometime between July 6 and 8 and picked up the girl at home.
They drove to a parking lot in the county where they had sex, police said.
