Before heading out the door to run some errands over Thanksgiving break, make sure you know what’s open.
Thanksgiving is on Thursday, Nov. 28. so WYDaily compiled a list of localities on the Peninsula including James City County, York County, Williamsburg, Hampton and Newport News, whose offices are closed on the annual holiday.
The following offices, parks and other establishments are closed on Thanksgiving unless otherwise noted.
James City County
- County offices, closed Thursday and Friday

- James City County Recreation Center, closed Thursday
- Abram Frink Jr. Community Center, closed Thursday
- Chickahominy Riverfront Park Store and Office, closed Thursday and Friday

On Thursday and Friday, curbside recycling will be delayed by one day.

There will be no changes to trash or recycling schedule.
York County
- York County public libraries, closed 5 p.m. Wednesday, closed Thursday and Friday

- Garbage collection — No recycling, refuse, bulk trash, or yard waste collection on Nov. 28 and 29. Thursday collection will be made Wednesday, Nov. 27. Friday collection will be made Monday, Dec. 2, and Monday collection will be made Wednesday, Dec. 4
