A restaurant at Williamsburg’s hometown winery is in the running for a USA Today Reader’s Choice title.
Café Provencal at the Williamsburg Winery has been nominated as a contender for the Best Winery Restaurant by USA Today.
The restaurant is one of 20 nominees, four of which are in Virginia. Eleven contenders are in California, which boasts the most wineries out of any state.
As of 10 a.m. Wednesday, Café Provencal ranked sixth in the lineup, after Chateau Morrisette Restaurant in Floyd, Virginia, and five other wineries.
Café Provencal is led by chef David McClure and features a menu with products from local farmers, watermen and “agri-artisans,” according to USA Today.
The menu includes dishes such as Edwards Country Ham and pea soup, butter-poached lobster tail salad, seared diver scallops with purple rice, and grilled swordfish with lemon basil polenta and a mustard cream sauce.
Readers can cast their vote once per day through noon on Aug. 12.
The winner will be announced Aug. 23.
