VDOT suspends some planned lane closures in Hampton Roads because of events

The Virginia Department of Transportation is cancelling several planned lane closures this weekend to ease congestion in light of this weekend’s activities throughout the region.

Lane closures are being suspended along routes that expect to see the highest volumes of traffic related to those events. This includes Interstate 64 in Norfolk, Interstate 264, and the water crossings.

Additional direct message signs will be deployed to advise motorists of traffic conditions. VDOT is on standby to support requests from municipalities if they request that traffic be re-routed.
