Motorists might experience delays over the next couple of weeks as the Virginia Department of Transportation implements daytime lane closures in York County.
A number of lane closures started Tuesday afternoon on the I-64 westbound segment II widening project in addition to already scheduled overnight dual-lane closures, according to VDOT.
Segment II is from exit 242 to 247 on I-64. The first portion of the paving began Tuesday toward the eastern end of the project at exit 247 and will continue through to exit 242.
Closures will continue Monday through Friday from 5 a.m. to 7 p.m. daily.
The closures will be in place to give the contractor more time to pave the road surface in both directions. Paving is estimated to be complete in early May, according to VDOT.
Additional information on ramp and lane closures can be found online.
