VIRGINIA BEACH — Applications are now available online for the city’s Summer Youth Employment Program for summer 2019.
The city’s SYEP is focused on providing Virginia Beach youth between the ages of 16 and 21 with the opportunity to develop skills, set career goals, earn money and become financially empowered by placing them in meaningful summer jobs, according to a news release from the city.

The application window will close on Feb. 28 and participants will be employed with either the city or with a local business.
The first day of work for those who are selected will be on June 24 and the last day will be on Aug. 9.
The program requires participants to be at least 16 years old and no older than 21 by June 11, 2019.
Participants must also live in the city, and will need to show proof of this through a report card or college transcript.
The city is also still looking for businesses to partner with for the program.
