VIRGINIA BEACH — A local man is headed to prison for sodomizing a child.
Anthony Dwayne August, 27, pleaded guilty Tuesday to forcible sodomy – victim under 13, and custodial indecent liberties.
Following his guilty plea, August was sentenced to 75 years in prison, according to the Virginia Beach Commonwealth’s Attorney’s Office.
Per the plea deal, Circuit Court Judge William R. O’Brien suspended 50 years of that term, which left 25 years for August to serve.
Prosecutors said between Dec. 1, 2016 and Dec. 31, 2017, August “sexually abused a child known to him.”
The victim reported the abuse to a trusted family member.
August admitted to the crime when detectives interviewed him, prosecutors said.
He also wrote two apology letters.
