Know before you go: VDOT’s list of weekly lane closures

Drivers on Interstate 64 should expect a series of nightly lane closures — and possibly some delays — through the week.

This list covers full closures of interstates, ramps, bridges and primary roads, and single-lane closures at the bridge-tunnels and the Berkley, High Rise and James River bridges from Oct. 7 to Oct. 13.

Work will also continue on segments II and III of the project.

A full list of scheduled closures is as follows:

Bridges

Berkley Bridge, I-264

• Single-lane closures I-264 east, Oct. 11, 9 p.m. to 4 a.m.

George P. Coleman Bridge, Route 17

• Single-lane closures in both directions, Oct. 10-11, 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Ramp closures

Segment II

• Full ramp closures on I-64 with signed detours in place, on Oct. 7-11, as follows:
  • I-64 east and west to Route 60/Busch Gardens (exit 243A), as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • I-64 east and west to Route 143 (exit 243B), as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Route 60 on-ramp to I-64 east and west, as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • I-64 east and west to Route 199 west (exit 242A), as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • I-64 east and west to Route 199 east (exit 242B), as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Route 199 east and west on-ramps to I-64 east and west, as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • I-64 east and west to Yorktown Road/Jefferson Avenue (exit 247), as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Jefferson Avenue (Route 143) on-ramps to I-64 east and west, as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Yorktown Road (Route 238) on-ramp to I-64 east, as early as 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

**Detour signs will be in place. All ramps will not be closed at the same time to maintain access to the detour routes.

I-64: Full ramp closures. Signed detours will be in place:

• I-64 west off-ramp closure to J Clyde Morris Blvd. south

I-264: Full ramp closures. Signed detours will be in place:

• I-264 east ramp closure to I-64 east Oct. 7-10, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• I-264 west off-ramp closure to Military Hwy. north:
  • Oct. 7, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Oct. 8-10, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.

• I-264 east on-ramp closure from Military Hwy. north Oct. 7-10, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• I-264 west on-ramp closure from Military Hwy. south Oct. 7-10, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• I-264 east/west on-ramps closure at Ballentine Blvd. Oct. 9-13, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• I-264 east/west off-ramp closure to Ballentine Blvd.:

  • I-664 north on-ramp closure from VA-164 west Oct. 7-11, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Oct. 12, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.
  • I-664 south on-ramp closure from VA-164 west Oct.7-11, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Oct. 12, 9 p.m. to 7 a.m.
  • I-664 north off-ramp closure to VA-164 west Oct. 7-11, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m., Oct. 12, 9 p.m. to 6 a.m.

VA-164: Full ramp closures. Signed detours will be in place:

• VA-164 west on-ramp/off-ramp closure at Towne Point Rd. Oct. 7-12, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• VA-164 west off-ramp closure to College Dr. Oct. 7-12, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.
• VA-164 west off-ramp/on-ramp closure at Cedar Ln. Oct. 7-12, 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-464:

• I-464 north off-ramp closure to Poindexter St. west Oct. 7 – 11 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-95: Full ramp closures. Signed detours will be in place:

• I-95 south ramp closure to US-301 (Exit 8) Oct. 7, 8 p.m. until Oct. 12 at noon.

Lane Closures

Hampton Roads Bridge-Tunnel:

• Single-lane closure west;
  • Oct. 7-11, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Oct. 12, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Oct. 13, 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

• Single-lane closure east;
  • Oct. 7-11, 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Oct. 12, 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
  • Oct. 13, 11 p.m. to 7 a.m.

I-64/I-264 Interchange Improvements

• Newtown Road south is closed under I-264 from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. weeknights through October. Signed detours are in place.

Monitor-Merrimac Memorial Bridge-Tunnel:

• Single-lane closure south, Oct. 9, 8 p.m. to 5 a.m.

I-564, Norfolk:

• I-564 east from Runway Tunnel to Terminal Blvd. dual-lane closures Oct. 8-10, 7 p.m. to 2 p.m.
• I-564 east at the Runway Tunnel single-lane closure Oct. 10-12, 7 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
• I-564 east from Runway Tunnel to Terminal Blvd. dual-lane closures Oct. 11, 7 p.m. to 11 a.m.
• I-564 east from Runway Tunnel to Terminal Blvd. dual-lane closures Oct. 12, 7 p.m. until 2 p.m. on Oct. 15.
• I-564 west at the Runway Tunnel dual-lane closures Oct. 8-12, 7 p.m. to 4:30 a.m.
• I-564 west at the Runway Tunnel full stoppages of less than 20 minutes, Oct. 9-11 between 11 p.m. and 3 a.m. Traffic will be allowed to clear between stoppages.
