James City County is closing Jolly Pond Road and disconnecting power at its marina in anticipation of heavy rains and high tides in the coming days because of Hurricane Florence.

Jolly Pond Road will be closed at the dam beginning at 5 p.m. Wednesday to maintain safety for motorists, the county said in a news release.

At the marina, electric service along the bulkhead and shoreline has been disconnected and will remain unavailable until Sept. 17, the county said. Fuel service and outlets will not be available while the power is disconnected.

The marina’s store will operate on normal hours, and all other marina services and equipment rentals will remain available, the county said.

The fishing pier at Chickahominy Riverfront Park remains closed until further notice.
