James City County Police are searching for two young men believed to have stolen an iPhone 8 from the Target store on Monticello Avenue.

On Aug. 11, JCC police received a report that an iPhone 8 had been stolen the previous evening, said police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams. Security footage from Aug. 10 at 10 p.m. showed a young man forcefully taking the phone off a security cord while a friend stood watch nearby.

There was no getaway vehicle or other stolen items reported, Williams said.

The phone is valued at $549, which qualifies the theft as grand larceny. The suspects are believed to be between the ages of 17 and 20, but JCC Police don’t have any more information on their identities.

If the suspects are under the age of 18, the commonwealth’s attorney will decide if the case should be held in juvenile court, Williams said.

Anyone able to identify either of the suspects should contact Investigator Billie Booth at 757-259-5148 or [email protected]. Callers also can contact the Crime Line at 1-888-LOCK-U-UP. Callers to the Crime Line can remain anonymous and will not be required to testify in court. Tipsters also may be eligible for a reward of up to $1,000 if the information leads to an arrest.
