James City County Police have arrested a second man in connection with a shooting July 28 at a county 7-Eleven.

Officers arrested 26-year-old Antuan Jamal White around 7:30 p.m. Thursday in James City County, police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams said.

Police believe White was involved in a shooting at the 7-Eleven at 5534 Centerville Road, which court documents indicate may have been connected to the Bloods and Crips street gangs.

White is charged with attempted malicious wounding, possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, carrying a concealed weapon by a convicted felon, discharging a firearm in public, shooting at an occupied vehicle and participating in a criminal street gang.

Police also arrested Hakeem Galberth, 34, of Newport News, on Aug. 6 in connection with the shooting. He is charged with attempted malicious wounding, discharging a firearm in public, discharging a firearm from a vehicle and participating in a criminal gang.

Police say Galberth was in the 7-Eleven with another man around 10:45 p.m. July 28. Both men were wearing blue bandannas, which police believe may be an indicator of being involved with the Crips street gang, documents say.

White and a group of men wearing red bandannas and other red clothing then entered the store and “exchanged words” with Galberth and his associate, police said.

After all the men left the store, Galberth got into his vehicle to leave the gas station.

7-Eleven surveillance video shows White and a person with him ducking down and other uninvolved people in the parking lot running in the opposite direction of Galberth’s car, which police believe indicates Galberth was shooting a firearm, documents say.

The surveillance camera recorded White allegedly shooting a firearm in the direction of Galberth’s car, document say.

Police interviewed Galberth after they pulled him over for a traffic stop shortly after the shooting. He told police White and his counterparts were “antagonizing him,” documents say.

White is scheduled to appear for a hearing at 1 p.m. Oct. 11 in Williamsburg-James City County General District Court.
