A break-in at a York County military surplus store led to a brief barricade situation early Sunday, the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office said.
At 2:48 a.m., the sheriff’s office received a call for a burglar alarm at Little G.I. Joe’s military surplus, 2330 George Washington Memorial Highway. When deputies who had been in the area working another high-priority call arrived at the store at 3:13 a.m., they discovered that the back door was open and two male suspects were barricaded inside.
A Virginia State Police canine unit also arrived on the scene, but the suspects remained barricaded inside the business.
Around 4 a.m., York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office Lt. Jeff Kerr spotted a juvenile female in a vehicle on the south side of the business, the sheriff’s office said. She was immediately taken into custody.
About 30 minutes later, the male suspects ran out of the back of the building and were immediately caught, the sheriff’s office said.
The sheriff’s office did not release any additional information.
