Five things every bride-to-be needs to know for her wedding day

Guests Throwing Confetti Over Bride And Groom At Wedding

Your wedding day is meant to be one of the most special and memorable days of your life.

From shopping for the perfect bridal gown, to tasting dozens of different cake flavors, to picking fonts and paper stock for the wedding invitations, there are so many details that go into planning your dream wedding.

And that can lead to major stress for you the bride-to-be.

We believe that every bride deserves for her magical day to be stress-free, so we’ve compiled five tips that will help make your wedding day as smooth as buttercream.

1. Don’t dream of perfection
Sure, you’ve made your lists and checked them twice, hoping planning will make your wedding go perfectly. But perfection is a snooze; things that go wrong make the best stories, ones that last a lifetime.

“I still get laughs telling how my husband, Greg, and I got locked out of our reception when the wedding photographer insisted we take his signature shot – happy couple under the moon,” says former bride Lisa Gordon.

“When we tried to get back into the hall, the doors were locked! Half our guests had left by the time we broke into our own reception.”

2. Stay true to your personal style
Your wedding day is meant to be a celebration of the love between you and your soon-to-be spouse. So don’t go for the cookie cutter approach when it comes to the wedding details – let your personalities shine through!

Did you meet and fall in love at college? Play your Alma Mater song for your ceremony recessional music, or incorporate the school colors into your tablescape.

Do you both geek out over Harry Potter? Have wizarding props for your guests to be able to take fun photos with, or pass out chocolate frogs for wedding favors.

Whether you go subtle or bold, pick a wedding theme that matches your personality and style and have fun with it!

3. Take time for self care
Planning a wedding can often feel like you are working a second job. Late nights pouring through bridal magazines, weekends packed with vendor appointments, or the endless debate with family over the guest list can take a toll on you both mentally and physically.

It’s important that you take time to maintain your own well being, otherwise you risk getting bridal burnout. Book yourself an appointment for a massage, find a quiet corner and read your favorite book, or join a bridal boot camp to let off some steam. Then once you’ve recharged your batteries you can go back and tackle that wedding to-do list with renewed energy.

4. Sit down and eat
You know that five course menu that you meticulously planned out with the caterer? Make sure you sit down to enjoy it.

“One of the biggest regrets from my wedding day is that I missed out on eating most of the meal,” says former bride, Elizabeth Roberts.

“My husband and I are both foodies, so we spent a lot of time finessing the menu to get it just right. But instead of sitting down while the meal was served, I ended up walking around to each table, chatting with our guests, making sure they were having a good time.”

“To this day friends and family will comment on how much they enjoyed our wedding meal and I have no clue if it was good or not because I barely ate three bites!”

5. Consult the experts
Bridal shows and wedding consultants are great helpers.
