NORFOLK — Police have arrested a third suspect wanted in connection with the murder of Patrick M. Cochrane.
Just after 9:30 p.m. on March 1, police responded to the 700 block of East Little Creek Road for a reported car crash. When police arrived, they found Cochrane, of Suffolk, inside the car suffering from a gunshot wound.
Cochrane was taken to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he later died, said police. He was 25 years old.
The investigation has revealed that Cochrane was shot in a different location, but was found inside a vehicle in a parking lot in 700 of East Little Creek.
As a result of the investigation, Jeremy Harris, Becca Banta, and Thomas Nesmith have been charged with the following:
- Nesmith, 24 of the 7900 block of Orchid Avenue, his charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and conspiracy.
- Banta, 24, of Isle of Wight, is charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, conspiracy, and accessory to murder.
- Harris, 27, of the 800 block of Pine Harbor Drive, is charged with second-degree murder, use of a firearm in the commission of a felony, and conspiracy.
Police announced the arrest of Nesmith Friday afternoon. He is being held in the Norfolk City Jail without bond.
