VIRGINIA BEACH —Two people are facing serious felony charges in two unrelated incidents Tuesday.
Virginia Beach firefighters were called to a home in the 3300 block of Dam Neck around 10:40 a.m. Tuesday.
There, crews found a small fire burning in the kitchen, according to a Virginia Beach Fire Department news release.
The fire did not spread beyond the kitchen and was quickly extinguished.
Fire investigators later found out the resident of the home, Rene Cejas, 59, “intentionally set the fire.”
Virginia Beach Fire officials said Cejas is in custody after being picked up by authorities in Spotsylvania County. He will be returned to Virginia Beach and charged with arson to an occupied dwelling.
In an unrelated incident, a Virginia Beach woman is charged with threatening to bomb and possession of a hoax device.
Investigators say 33-year-old Crystal Mostek walked into a 7-Eleven in the 2200 block of Pleasure House Road around 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, placed a device on the counter, told the clerk it was a bomb and threatened to blow up the store.
Authorities later found the device was not a bomb.
