NORFOLK — Are you fascinated by the animals sheltered at the Virginia Zoo?
Starting April, you can learn more about them through two new programs: EdZOOcation Days and Animal Appreciation Days.
On one Saturday a month, the zoo will host EdZOOcation days. People of all ages can learn more about animals and their habitats through hands-on activities. Informational programs include days dedicated to migratory birds, giraffes, tigers and rhinos, according to a zoo news release.
Animal Appreciation Days will occur throughout the week. The programs will include meetings with trail hosts, “Keeper Chats” and educational carts, as well as the Zoodoption program.
The Zoodoption program allows people to “symbolically” adopt the zoo animals and enter in for a chance to win a “sneak peak” tour, according to the zoo.
Both programs are included in the price of zoo admission. The events will run from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
