There’s no doubt Williamsburg is getting snow Wednesday — it’s just a question of how much.
Updated forecasts from the National Weather Service predict Williamsburg could get between 1 and 2 inches of snow Wednesday evening, NWS meteorologist Jeff Orrock said.
Williamsburg will be on the southern edge of a large storm system, meaning it will likely see more snow than the rest of Hampton Roads.
“It’s a tricky march [storm] system,” Orrock said.
As drivers travel north toward West Point and Richmond, the amount of snow will increase up to 2 to 3 inches, Orrock said. Lower parts of the Virginia Peninsula, Norfolk and Virginia Beach will see an inch or less.
The snow will start in the afternoon, following a period of rain in the morning, but may not start to accumulate until later in the afternoon, around commuting time.
Temperatures will hover above freezing, Orrock added.
Snow is expected to taper off late Wednesday night.
