Police have arrested a West Point man in connection with several larcenies from cars in Michelle’s Point, Rolling Woods and White Hall.

Jose Alexander Paredes-Rodriguez, 32, has been charged with six counts of petit larceny, three counts of grand larceny, two counts of credit card theft and driving without a driver’s license, according to a James City County Police news release.

On Feb. 9, police released surveillance footage of a person carrying a bag, testing the driver’s side doors of a minivan and a car parked in a driveway. After finding the doors to be locked, the person continues walking.

Police believe Paredes-Rodriguez stole the items from unlocked vehicles.

West Point Police have also charged Paredes-Rodriguez with two counts of motor vehicle theft, one count of entering a vehicle and one count of petit larceny, according to West Point Police Lt. Lisa Woodson.

West Point Police believe Paredes-Rodriguez stole two cars from town in February. Both have been recovered.

The department worked closely with James City County Police in the investigation, according to a West Point Police Facebook post

“Residents are reminded to protect their property by removing valuables from vehicles and always locking doors, keeping windows and doors locked at night and when not at home and keeping extra keys and garage door remotes in a secure location,” the release said.

Anyone who sees something suspicious should contact the James City County Police at 757-253-1800 or 911 in an emergency.
