House significantly damaged by fire on Jolly Pond Road

A James City County house sustained extensive damage after it caught fire Wednesday afternoon, according to fire officials.

James City-Bruton Volunteer and New Kent fire departments responded to a house fire around 2:41 p.m. in the 2600 block of Jolly Pond Road, according to a James City County news release.

No injuries were reported as a result of the fire, but the house sustained extensive damage, the release said.

The homeowner was able to get out of the house and go to a neighbor’s home to call 911.

James City County fire marshals are investigating the cause of the fire.
