A 24-year-old woman was arrested Nov. 27 for allegedly stabbing a man the morning after Thanksgiving, collapsing his lung.
Brianca Stoutinberg, of James City County, is charged with aggravated malicious wounding, a Class 2 felony, according to James City County Police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams.
Police responded to a home in the 3800 block of Staffordshire Lane around 2 a.m. Nov. 24 after receiving a call about a stabbing.
Police arrived to find a 35-year-old man suffering from two stab wounds in his back. He suffered a collapsed lung, and was taken to Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News, Williams said.
Police believe Stoutinberg and the 35-year-old victim had been at a Thanksgiving dinner at the residence with some family members earlier, on Thanksgiving Day.
They then got into an altercation, Williams said, and Stoutinberg stabbed the man with a knife. The reason for the altercation is unknown.
The victim has been released from the hospital, Williams said.
A Class 2 felony carries a maximum punishment of 20 years to life in prison and a $100,000 fine.
Stoutinberg is scheduled to appear in the Williamsburg-James City County General District Court on Jan. 4.
