Opus 9 Steakhouse in New Town is conducting business as usual after someone broke in and vandalized the restaurant over the past weekend.

The James City County Police Department was called to Opus 9 at 8:23 a.m. Sunday after employees entered the restaurant and discovered damage throughout the building.

Police have identified a suspect, but no formal charges were filed as of noon Wednesday, James City County Police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams said.

According to General Manager Steve Smith, the Opus 9 staff had the restaurant open and ready for service that same Sunday evening.

“Most of our staff showed up, many on their own time off to get the restaurant up and running for our customers,” Smith said. “It’s was great seeing them all come together to do this.”

The incident is still under investigation.
