NORFOLK — Out of all of America’s beautiful and unique cities, Norfolk is the country’s favorite.
According to a survey conducted by Travel + Leisure, after coming in at No.4 last year, Norfolk beat out a number of cities, including Washington, D.C., New York City, and San Francisco.
The annual survey took reader feedback regarding their hometowns or places they’ve lived for extended periods of time. Readers from throughout the country spoke of all the qualities of their hometown, from the nightlife and restaurants to friendliness of residents.
Friendly locals, a bustling downtown area, and a growing art scene were among the factors that earned Norfolk its ranking.
“Sounds like a good reason to visit Norfolk,” the report said.
The city responded to the honor Monday afternoon on Twitter.
Norfolk is America’s Favorite City!
Thank you @TravelLeisure readers & Norfolk residents who make this place No. 1!https://t.co/ZybA2a2kvG
