Police say a Williamsburg man was kicked out of an acquaintance’s apartment, but not before stealing a bag he attempted to use to get a ride from her the next day.
Williamsburg Police responded to a larceny in the Sterling Manor apartment complex on the evening of Oct. 15, according to spokesman Maj. Greg Riley. The victim told officers she allowed a man she knew— 51-year-old Carlton Duncan— to stay at her residence between Oct. 13 and 14.
Duncan has previously been listed as a Williamsburg resident in online court records. Riley said Duncan was homeless at the time the woman allowed the 51-year-old to stay with her.
She told Duncan to leave her apartment on Saturday, Oct. 14, because of his “inappropriate behavior while intoxicated,” Riley said. The following day, she realized a bag containing personal items, including keys, was missing.
Duncan allegedly called the victim that afternoon and demanded to be picked up from Hampton. He then threatened to destroy the bag if she did not do so, Riley said.
The reporting officer obtained a felony warrant for Duncan, charging him with larceny. Riley said the warrant had not yet been served as of 1 p.m. Tuesday. Riley did not know whether the woman had offered Duncan the ride, or if the bag had been returned.

Duncan was previously arrested back in August and charged with indecent exposure and drunk in public after allegedly urinating on the wall inside a Walmart on Rochambeau Drive. He is scheduled to appear in the York General District Court on Oct. 30 for those charges.
According to online court records, Duncan has previously been found guilty of public intoxication, as well as oystering during closed season and unlawfully catching undersized crabs.
