After barricading self, Virginia Beach man charged with assault, abduction and strangulation

VIRGINIA BEACH — A 29-year-old man was charged with domestic assault, strangulation and abduction on Saturday night after he was involved in a barricade situation with the Virginia Beach Police Department.

Police responded to a domestic situation in the 1000 block of Red Mill Boulevard at 5:47 p.m. on Saturday. When they arrived, the victim had already left the home, according to the VBPD.

Police found Curtis J. Parker barricaded in the house. He refused to leave, and police negotiated with him for an “extended period” of time.

In a VBPD news release, authorities did not reveal how long the negotiations went on; however, the VBPD sent a tweet announcing that the barricade situation had ended peacefully at 10:35 p.m.

The victim was taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

The case is still under investigation.
