Motorcyclist in critical condition after Granby Street crash, police say

NORFOLK — A portion of Granby Street is shut down and a motorcyclist is in critical condition after a Monday morning crash, police say.

The crash between a motorcycle and a Honda sedan happened in the 7000 block of Granby Street around 7:20 a.m. Police believe the driver of the Honda was traveling north on Granby Street and attempted to make a left into oncoming traffic, according to the Norfolk Police Department.

During the left turn, a motorcyclist hit the Honda and was thrown from his bike. When police arrived, they found him lying in the street and paramedics immediately took him to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, according to the NPD.

The driver of the Honda was uninjured and stayed at the scene until police arrived. Charges are pending, police said.

The southbound lanes of Granby Street were closed from Thole Street to Sinclair Street until 11:45 a.m., police said.
