VIRGINIA BEACH — Five people were injured, with one in critical condition, in a head-on collision early Sunday morning, police said.
According to police, around 2:45 a.m. an SUV with one occupant was driving northbound on Greenwich Road while a passenger vehicle with four occupants was driving southbound. The passenger vehicle was speeding into a curve in the road and crossed the yellow line, hitting the SUV, police said.
Both vehicles were heavily damaged and fire crews worked for “an extensive period of time” to remove both drivers.
Police believe speed and alcohol were factors in the crash.
The crash remains under investigation.
