9-year-old boy dies after being hit by car, Norfolk police say

NORFOLK — A nine-year-old boy died after being hit by a car Monday night, police said.

Around 9:40 p.m. police were called to the 3200 block of Sewells Point Road near Kennebeck Avenue. Upon arriving, police located Bryan Perdomo-Henriques, of the 3800 block of Peterson Street, lying on the road after being hit while riding a bicycle.

Perdomo-Henriques was brought to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, where he later died.

Police say the driver of the vehicle was traveling south on Sewells Point Road while Perdomo-Henriques was riding his bike on the sidewalk. Perdomo-Henriques lost control of the bicycle and veered onto the road before being hit.

The driver, an adult male, remained on the scene. No other injuries were reported.

Norfolk police continue to investigate the crash.
