A 21-year-old man turned himself in Aug. 10 after police say he drove aggressively, gave the middle finger to another driver and displayed a firearm while on the Colonial Parkway.

Aaron M. Wiggins, of Hampton, is charged with aggressive driving, carrying a concealed weapon and brandishing a firearm, according to York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office spokeswoman Shelley Ward.

Police received a report on Aug. 9 of an aggressive driver in a silver Ford pickup truck who almost hit another vehicle while traveling toward Yorktown, Ward said.

The caller, a woman who was in the vehicle that was almost hit, told police she attempted to pass the silver truck, which was traveling at 38 mph, Ward said.

The truck was half in one lane and half in the passing lane, blocking the woman from passing, she told police. When she honked to “let him know she was there,” he sped up and blocked her again, Ward said.

When she returned to the right lane, the silver truck’s driver also moved over, slamming on his brakes, the woman told police.

Ward said the woman also had to slam on her brakes, almost coming to a complete stop.

“That was when he stuck his middle finger out at her,” Ward said, adding he held up a handgun above the center console of the vehicle. He did not point the gun at the victim.

He then sped off and continued driving erratically, she said.

After receiving the report and vehicle information, the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office called Wiggins, notifying him they had arrest warrants in his name. He turned himself in the next day.

Wiggins is scheduled to appear in the York-Poquoson General District Court Monday at 8:30 a.m. He has been released on bond, according to court records.
