Overnight lane closures and detours will affect motorists traveling on Interstate 64 through York County starting Sunday.
Single-lane closures are scheduled for both east and westbound lanes on I-64 at multiple locations between August 20 and 24, according to a Virginia Department of Transportation news release.
One of the closures will be between Lee Hall (Exit 247) and Jefferson Avenue (Exit 255), in both eastbound and westbound lanes. Lane closures will take place from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m, except on Sunday night when the closures will not begin until after 10 p.m.
East and westbound single-lane closures will also occur Aug. 20-24 from the Colonial Parkway to Lee Hall between 8 p.m. and 5 a.m., the release said.
The area will see more than just single-lane closures during the week. The I-64 westbound off-ramp to Merrimac Trail — Exit 243B — will be closed from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on Aug. 21, 23 and 24, the news release said.
The closures will allow crews contracted by VDOT to “perform bridge construction activities” on the I-64 overpass, the release said.
Motorists will be detoured to Exit 242A to Route 199, then will follow signs for the Route 143 on-detour, and will then exit right onto the Route 143 exit, the release said.
