James City County Police are investigating over a dozen car break-ins that occurred overnight Wednesday night and early Thursday morning.
County residents have reported 17 vehicle break-ins on eight different roads since the night of Aug. 9, police spokeswoman Stephanie Williams said Friday.
Wallets, credit cards and money were reported stolen from unlocked vehicles, Williams said. Other residents reported their vehicles were rummaged through, but nothing was taken.
Locations of the break-ins include Ben Franklin Circle, Spring E and Spring W, Lane Place Drive, Oliver Walcott Spur, Roger Sherman Drive, Glynn Springs Drive, and Longhill Road.
The streets are in Founders Village, Regency at Longhill, the Pointe at New Towne and Season’s Trace.
No vehicles were damaged after the break-ins, police said.
“We would encourage residents to remove valuables from their vehicles and to lock their vehicle doors at all times, even when parked at home,” Williams said.
