Take a ride back in time in a Studebaker and learn the history of the company’s support for the military Tuesday evening.
The American Revolution Museum is presenting a lecture at 7 p.m., according to a press release from the Jamestown-Yorktown Foundation.
The lecture will include presentations from the Studebaker National Museum and the U.S. Army Transportation Museum at Fort Eustis.
The presentations will highlight the 1824 Studebaker carriage that was commissioned by the U.S. government and used in Frenchmen Marquis de Lafayette’s tour of the United States.
Visitors will learn about Lafayette’s celebrity and his 1824-25 “Farewell Tour,” which celebrated the assistance he provided to George Washington in the American Revolution.
Before the lecture, the Central Virginia Chapter Studebaker Drivers Club will display five of its cars in front of the American Revolution Museum between 5 and 7 p.m.
Tuesday’s activities are being held in conjunction with “AfterWARd: The Revolutionary Veterans Who Built America,” a special exhibition that runs through November.
Both the car show and the lecture are free, but reservations are recommended. To reserve a spot, call (757) 253-4572.
