Salvation Army, parks and rec employee charged with embezzlement

NORFOLK — A 33-year-old man accused of clocking in at the Chesapeake Parks and Recreation Department before leaving to work at the Salvation Army has been charged with embezzlement.

Police say that on several occasions Quentin Matthews clocked into work at the parks and recreation department before leaving the building to work at the Ray and Joan Kroc Center for the Salvation Army in Norfolk, according to documents filed in Norfolk Circuit Court.

Documents show that he returned to the parks and recreation department later on those days to clock out.

During a search of the Salvation Army, police found the Matthews’ time card records which showed five different dates when he was clocked in for both jobs. The Salvation Army confirmed that he’d been working at the Ray and Joan Kroc Center since November 2015, court documents show.

Matthews was arrested on May 30, and charged with three felony counts of embezzlement. He has been released from jail and is scheduled to appear in Chesapeake General District Court on August 1.
