Local police are investigating a death and possible meth lab located at the 200 block of Choisy Crescent in Yorktown.
According to a York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office Facebook post, police were dispatched to the address last Wednesday for a medical call. They found a female resident in need of immediate medical care and transported her to the hospital, where she later died.
Upon the woman’s death, the sheriff’s office began an “unexpected death” investigation, the post read.
On Monday, police obtained a search warrant for the residence and found “approximately 4 grams of meth, a sport drink bottle used to make meth, a funnel, and a small amount of packaging material was located in a hidden compartment,” the post read.
According to Sgt. Michelle Anaya of the Virginia State Police, special agents arrived Monday afternoon to assist in the cleanup. A regional hazmat team also provided assistance, the sheriff’s office post read.
“The community was not in danger at any time and evacuations were not necessary,” the post read.
The investigation is still active and will be headed by the sheriff’s office, said spokesman Lt. Dennis Ivey. As of Tuesday morning, no charges had been filed.
