Norfolk toddler in critical condition, parents charged with abuse

NORFOLK — A man and woman are facing felony charges after their toddler was found unresponsive on Thursday morning.

The 2-year-old was taken from the 700 block of Lexington Street to the Children’s Hospital of the Kings Daughters around 7:45 a.m. and is currently in critical condition.

Her mother, 26-year-old Destiny Martin, and stepdad, 25-year-old Robert Griffis, have been charged with child abuse, child neglect and malicious wounding, according to the Norfolk Police Department.

The charges are felonies. They are being held without bond in the Norfolk City Jail.
