Summer concert season is just around the corner and James City County is ready to roll out those picnic blankets.
The county released its lineup for the second annual Jamestown Beach Event Park concert series Thursday. The free concerts, called Jamestown Jams, will take place monthly starting in July at a grassy field within the park.
According to a county news release, the free live music will run from 6:30-8 p.m. on July 7, Aug. 4, Sept. 1 and Oct. 6. The entrance to the venue will open an hour before the concert.
Each event will focus on a different decade of music and feature a different band, the release stated. The full lineup is as follows:
July 7: 70s music featuring Affirmative Groove, an 8-piece party band from Richmond.
Aug. 4: 80s night featuring The Deloreans, an 80s showband.
Sept. 1: 90s music featuring Party of Four, a “Jangle Pop” tribute band.
Oct. 6: music from the early 2000s featuring The Lone Rangers.
Parking will be available adjacent to Jamestown Settlement, behind the former Jamestown Campground building at 2205 Jamestown Road.
Food and non-alcoholic beverages will be permitted at the event, but no alcohol or large, plastic coolers will be allowed. Chairs and blankets will be permitted, but all items are subject to inspection prior to entrance.
Pets will not be permitted on the grounds “for the safety of all attendees,” the release stated. Only service animals will be allowed on site.
According to the release, assorted beer and wine will be available for purchase at the event. Vendors will also be present selling food and snacks.
Jamestown Beach will remain open to patrons during each concert and will follow its regular operating schedule.
