1 dead, 3 injured in Norfolk shooting Sunday night

NORFOLK — A man was killed and three other people were injured in a shooting Sunday night, police said.

Around 7:45 p.m., calls came in for reports of multiple shots being fired from several vehicles near the East Princess Anne Road and Church Street intersection. When police arrived they found that one vehicle had driven off the road and hit a nearby apartment complex. A man inside the vehicle had been shot, police said. He was pronounced dead

A man inside the vehicle, 28-year-old Thomas Leroy Hicks, had been shot, police said. Hicks was pronounced dead at the scene.

Three other people were shot during the incident — two adult women and a 17-year-old female. All three were transported to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital. One woman is in critical condition while the other woman and the teenager are expected to survive, police said.

Nobody was injured inside the apartment building.

The name of the man killed has not been released pending identification and notification of kin.
