December 7 marks the 75th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor and Yorktown is going all out to honor World War II veterans.
During a free ceremony in York Hall on Thursday, Dec. 8, the county will simulcast “Dawn of Infamy: America Goes to War,” a tribute in Richmond by the Virginia World War I and World War II Commemoration Commission, according to a release. The Yorktown event runs from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. at 301 Main St.
World War II veterans at the Yorktown event will be recognized. They and their families will have priority seating. There will also be escorts to help World War II veterans to their seats, if they need assistance.
Veterans from other wars and other localities are encouraged to attend, along with active-duty military personnel and the children, relatives and descendants of World War II veterans.
The ceremony is open to the public, but advance registration is required by 3 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 7.
