Police are searching for a middle-aged man they believe got into an altercation with a William & Mary student after not stopping his vehicle at a crosswalk Saturday night.
Police responded to a call about an assault on Dillard Street around 7:15 p.m. Saturday, Williamsburg Police spokesperson Maj. Greg Riley said.
The student told police he was crossing Richmond Road near Dillard Street when a car turning from Dillard didn’t stop, police said.
The student said he and the driver got into a verbal argument, which resulted in the driver getting out of his vehicle and pushing the student, Riley said. The student also said he called police because he thought the man was driving while intoxicated.
There were no injuries during the incident, and the student said he wasn’t planning to press charges against the man.
The driver is being described as a short, middle-aged man with balding hair. He was wearing a dark grey or blue sweatshirt and blue jeans, police said.
At the time of the incident, the man was driving a red, four-door hatch back vehicle and reportedly drove onto the college campus.
He was last seen on Compton Drive heading toward Monticello.
Following the incident, the college issued a news alert on Twitter describing the incident.
