Lackey Clinic, a free health care center in Yorktown, was recently awarded $42,120 to expand its dental program’s hours of operation and patient capacity.
According to a news release, the Virginia Health Care Foundation (VHCF) granted the funds as a means of addressing the need for increased access to dental care for low-income uninsured residents of York County and the cities of Poquoson and Newport News.
The grant is part of $343,000 in funding recently awarded by VHCF to dental clinics in Virginia. That initiative was funded in part by a $1 million challenge grant from the Delta Dental of Virginia Foundation, the release stated.
According to the release, the Virginia Health Care Foundation awarded over $2 million in additional grants to expand medical, behavioral health, and pharmacy services in 15 other organizations throughout the state.
