York County will be hosting a military band concert series this August at Riverwalk Landing at a performance stage overlooking the York River.

The series, which will be held on Tuesdays from Aug. 2 to 23 at 6:30 p.m., will feature the U.S. Air Force Heritage of America Band, the U.S. Fleet Forces Band and the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Band.

On Aug. 2, the concert series will kick off with a performance by the U.S. Air Force Heritage of America “Rhythm in Blue” Jazz Ensemble. The band will be playing a combination of jazz, blues and funk, spanning 70 years of American music.

The U.S. Fleet Forces’ “Four Star Edition” Band, the largest of the Navy’s 11 Fleet Bands, continues the series on Aug. 9. The unit provides musical support for military and community relations events.

On Aug. 16, the U.S. Air Force Heritage of American “Blue Aces” Band will take the stage and perform a wide variety of American popular music styles. The group performs annually for both military and civilian audiences.

Capping off the series, the U.S. Army Training and Doctrine Command Band “TRADOC Jazz Combo” will perform Aug. 23. The band will play a combination of classics, ballads, blues, soul and assorted contemporary tunes.

The concert series is free and open to the public. Free parking will be available at the Riverwalk Landing parking terrace, York Hall, York-Poquoson Courthouse, York County Administration Building and other public parking lots throughout the area.
