
Incumbent Tommy Norment (R) and John Miller will continue to represent the 3rd and 1st districts, respectively, in the Virginia Senate.
Each soundly defeated their challengers: Norment defeated Democrat Hugo Reyes and Miller won over Republican Mark Matney, according to unofficial results.
Vote totals from the Virginia Department of Elections show Norment, the state senate’s majority leader, earned 35,498 votes, or 69.40 percent of the ballots cast. Reyes took in 15,481 votes, or 30.27 percent.
Miller garnered 17,981 votes for 59.31 percent of the ballots cast in that race, while Matney collected 12,276 votes, or 40.49 percent.
All election results are considered unofficial until a formal results review, which begins tomorrow, is completed and all provisional ballots are counted.
