A bicyclist suffered life-threatening injuries Saturday after swerving into the path of a car and was struck on Old Williamsburg Road.
Sgt. Michelle Anaya with the Virginia State Police said the driver of a sedan was heading south on Old Williamsburg Road at around 4:24 p.m. and moved over to pass the bicyclist riding in the same direction.
The bicyclist then swerved into the path of the sedan and was struck, suffering life-threatening injuries, Anaya said.
The bicyclist was not wearing a helmet, according to police.
The road was closed for several hours Saturday as a result of the accident.
