The York County School Board’s vice chairman is running for another term on the board.
Dr. Robert George announced he will seek a third term on the School Board as the representative for the county’s fifth district, which covers Tabb and Bethel.
George was first elected to the non-partisan board in 2007 and served as its vice chairman in 2011, 2012, 2014 and 2015.
George, who currently has two children in YCSD schools, is a practicing dentist in York County and owns Yorkshire Family Dentistry in Tabb.
He said he was proud of his service on the board, especially with the handling of taxpayer money.
George said he would continue to work with the other members of the School Board to improve the educational quality of York County schools.
“Developing a well-rounded student by having opportunities for kids across the spectrum is paramount,” George said in a news release. “There’s so much more we can do for our students and teachers, and I am eager to maintain the tremendous forward momentum we’ve built together.”
He is the second incumbent on the school board to announce a re-election bid. Board Chairman Mark Medford announced Feb. 4 he would seek another term in office.
The school board consists of five members elected to represent five geographic districts in the county for four-year terms.
Candidates for all five seats will be on the ballots during the Nov. 3 general election.
