YPSO: Woman Steals Wallet, Uses Credit Card at Lowe’s

Investigators are searching for a woman accused of using a stolen credit card to purchase gifts cards at Lowe’s.

A post on the YPSO Facebook page said a woman claims she was at Martin’s Food Market on Monticello Avenue on Jan. 4 when a woman made contact with her, drawing her attention away from her purse.

The suspect then took the wallet out of the woman’s purse, authorities said.

Investigators believe the suspect later used the woman’s credit card to purchase gift cards at the Lowe’s on East Rochambeau Road.

YPSO said it is investigating several reports of credit card thefts in the area, many of which involve a suspect taking the credit card from the victim by means of distracting or pick-pocketing.

“Investigators believe that these suspects are connected with various other similar crimes through out Virginia,” the Facebook post said. “Please be vigilant in guarding your purse or from being distracted by strangers trying to lure you away from your belongings.”

James City County

Police Investigating Reported Stolen Checks

A woman claims more than $2,000 of checks were stolen from her Williamsburg home.

Officers received a report Jan. 17 stating 37-year-old Michael Heape, who is known to the woman, stole checks from her residence and forged her name on the checks, cashing them at three banks in James City County between Jan. 5 and Jan. 12.

The checks totaled $2,100, a police report said. The victim reported the incident to police after noticing the checks on her bank statements, authorities said.

Heape has been charged with four felony counts of forgery and uttering.

Woman Faces Charges for Alleged Prescription Fraud

A 29-year-old woman is accused of trying to obtain prescription drugs from the pharmacy with a false prescription.

Authorities said Mary Kathryn Honsinger, a James City County woman, stole a prescription pad from a doctor’s office in York County and used it to write false prescriptions for Oxycodone and Dilaudid — both pain relievers — and Cipro, an antibiotic.

Honsigner is suspected of presenting four forged prescriptions to three pharmacies in James City County on Jan. 19, 20 and 22.

She was able to obtain 45 tablets of Dilaudid, 20 tablets of Cipro and 45 tablets of Oxycodone before presenting a fourth prescription for Oxycodone and being denied the prescription drug after a pharmacist called the issuing doctor’s office, said Stephanie Williams, a spokesperson with the James City County Police.

Honsinger now faces four felony counts of making a forged prescription and four felony counts of attempting to obtain a controlled substance by forging a prescription.
