The James City County Office of Housing and Community Development wants to connect with people who are thinking about buying their first homes with a class covering basics like credit scoring, applying for a loan and choosing the right digs.
The class includes two sessions, scheduled for 6 to 9 p.m. Feb. 10 and 12 at the Law Enforcement Center at 4600 Opportunity Way.
Those either purchasing a home or considering a purchase in the future stands to benefit by taking the class, according to a news release from the county.
Topics covered include personal finances, credit scoring, qualifying and applying for loans, choosing the right home, what happens at closing and how to manage home inspections. Mortgage companies require many people to complete such a class prior to being approved for a loan.
Anybody who attends both classes will receive a certificate of completion. Space is limited, and registration closes on Feb. 9. To register, call 259-5340.
More information for first-time homebuyers in James City County is available at the county’s website.
