York County’s Deborah Robinson is hoping for four more years in the treasurer position.

Robinson, who has helped the treasurer’s office become accredited every year in her tenure, has served as the county’s treasurer for 16 years. Before being appointed in 1998, she worked in the treasurer’s office in various positions.

She said in a news release she is “committed to ensuring fiscal integrity within a professional environment and providing excellent customer service to York County citizens” and listed one of her top priorities as evaluating available technology solutions for citizens.

During her 16 years as treasurer, Robinson has brought several customer service programs to the county, including electronic payment options and a monthly debit program for real estate and personal property tax payments.

York County citizens will vote in November for the treasurer, whose duties include collecting and accounting for all revenues received by the county.

Citizens will also vote for the York-Poquoson Sheriff, members of the General Assembly, the Board of Supervisors, the York County School Board, the Clerk of the Circuit Court, the Commissioner of the Revenue and the York-Poquoson Commonwealth’s Attorney in November.

Robinson holds certifications with the University of Virginia’s Weldon Cooper Center for Public Service and the Association of Public Treasurers of the U.S. and Canada.

She is also a member of the Treasurers’ Association of Virginia, the Virginia Association of Local Elected Constitutional Officers, the National Association of County Collectors, Treasurers and Finance Officers and the Association of Public Treasurers of the U.S. and Canada.
