A 14-year-old boy told police another teenager struck him in the face with a skateboard Sunday at the county-run skate park off Longhill Road.
Emergency officials found the boy with lacerations and abrasions on his face at the skate park, said James City County Police Department Spokeswoman Stephanie Williams.
The boy told a James City County Police officer he got into a verbal argument with multiple people. During the argument, an unidentified male walked past and bumped into him, Williams said.
The two then got into a verbal altercation, and the unidentified teenager struck the 14-year-old boy in the face with a skateboard. Police believe the assailant is about 19 years old.
The altercation turned into a fight, and the suspect pulled out a knife and then fled, the 14-year-old boy told police.
The investigation into the situation is ongoing, Williams said. The skate park is adjacent to the James City County Recreation Center.
