This week, a 16-year-old was accused of stealing cash from Busch Gardens and a woman has been accused of stealing rings belonging to a dead Colonial Manor resident. Police are investigating after finding seven stolen motorcycles. More than $500 was reported stolen from the DoubleTree Hotel in Williamsburg. A 21 -year-old was arrested after allegedly spitting on a medic and a deputy. York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office deputies are asking the public for help in identifying three people suspected of stealing from 7-Eleven.

Police: 16-Year-Old Employee Steals More Than $400 from Busch Gardens
A 16-year-old girl has been arrested after Busch Gardens park guests observed her stealing from the register in a souvenir shop, police said.
Stephanie Williams with the James City County Police Department said the 16-year-old was placing cash from transactions into her pocket without ringing up sales.
Park guests witnessing the alleged crime reported it to security, Williams said.
Petitions are being sought for embezzlement, and $462 was recovered. Williams was unsure of which area of the park the juvenile was working at the time.
Rings Reported Stolen From Dead Colonial Manor Resident
An employee of Colonial Manor at Williamsburg — a retirement and assisted living facility — has been arrested after police say she stole a resident’s rings after the resident died.
Williams said when the resident’s son came to Colonial Manor to secure her belongings after her death, the rings — valued at $1,200 total — were missing.
An employee told the son 35-year-old Jamie Rae Spangler took the rings a few days after his mother’s death and pawned them at a Newport News pawn shop Sept. 16, Williams said.
A few days later, on Sept. 19, Spangler bought the rings back, Williams said.
Spangler was arrested Nov. 3 and charged with grand larceny and larceny with intent to sell.
Police Receive Report of 7 Stolen Motorcycles
Seven stolen motorcycles were found Monday in a building on Howard Drive off Pocahontas Trail, Williams said.
A preliminary report indicated a Newport News man followed a person driving what he believed to be his motorcycle, according to Williams. The man was able to identify the license plate and other customizations that resembled his motorcycle, which he said was missing.
The preliminary report stated he saw two men pull into a garage and leave in another vehicle. Officers were given permission to enter the garage, where they found seven motorcycles believed to have been stolen from residents in Newport News, Hampton and York County.
Williams said the preliminary report was not relayed accurately to police. She said the man did not follow his motorcycle into the garage and witness the two men leave in another vehicle.
The investigation is being primarily handled by Hampton, York County and Newport News with the assistance of the James City County Police Department.
More than $500 Reported Stolen From DoubleTree Hotel
Police are investigating after more than $500 was reported stolen from the DoubleTree Hotel on Kingsmill Road in Williamsburg.
Williams said $230 was reported missing from a locked safe deposit box Monday. Later that day, $287 was reported missing from the same safe.
The safe deposit boxes are used to keep cash tills, and keys are assigned to employees, Williams said.
She said investigators are following up on leads at this time.

Man Charged With Assaulting Police Officer
A 21-year-old Williamsburg man was charged with assaulting a police officer Nov. 1 after a patrolling deputy with the York-Poquoson Sheriff’s Office arrested him for being drunk in public.
Lt. Dennis Ivey with YPSO said the patrolling deputy saw Riley Victor Pellegrino intoxicated on Colonial Avenue and Hubbard Lane in Upper York County a little after midnight Nov. 1.
Ivey said Pellegrino was hitting parked cars with his vehicle and had blood on his face.
When an ambulance was called, Pellegrino allegedly spit on a medic and the deputy, Ivey said.
Pellegrino has been charged with two felony counts of assault and battery on a police officer and one misdemeanor count of drunk in public.
Ivey said there were no charges of destruction of property or hit and run.
York Investigators Looking For Alleged 7-Eleven Thieves
YPSO is investigating after video surveillance from the 7-Eleven in the 5000 block of George Washington Memorial Highway showed three people stealing from the convenience store.
A post on the YPSO Facebook page stated the first incident occurred Oct. 27, when three suspects — two black males and a black female — were seen on camera.
The three are suspected of taking cell phone-related items.
They were seen in the 7-Eleven again Tuesday and are believed to have taken additional items, according to the post.
